From 0 Miles to Half Marathon: A Journey of Grit and Growth
When Sean come to me with the idea of wanting to run a half marathon for charity, the drive was running for a good cause and also for personal development. To start he couldn’t imagine running a mile for fun, let alone a half marathon. But that didn’t matter. What mattered was his determination, his trust in the process, and his willingness to embrace every challenge I threw at him. We broke the end goal gown into smaller stepping stones to show how it can be achieved.
It wasn’t easy—there were days we doubted reaching the goal due to pre-existing injuries. But every setback was met with perseverance, and every step forward, was a victory in itself.
Week by week, mile by mile, we built his endurance. We celebrated the small wins—the first time he ran without stopping (due to his injuries), the first 10K, and eventually, the day he realized he was no longer the person who couldn’t run but instead he was going to have victory in the day.
And this weekend, Sean crossed the finish line of his first half marathon. The look of triumph on his face said it all. This journey wasn’t just about running—it was about transformation. It’s about the strength he found within himself.
I’m beyond proud of Sean, not just for his physical achievement, but for the mental and emotional fortitude it took to get there pushing though barriers and past injuries.
To the next challenge, the next goal, the next mile. Let’s go!
